FanOfFailure Submissions: Share Your Failure Story

Every story we publish starts with someone brave enough to say “this did not work out.” Your experience could be exactly what another person needs to hear today.

What FanOfFailure Is Looking For

We welcome honest, first-person stories about a time something did not go to plan. The failure does not have to be dramatic – some of the most useful lessons come from small moments. What matters is that you are willing to reflect on what happened and what it taught you.

  • Career and business: a job you lost, a venture that closed, an interview that went badly, a project that missed the mark.
  • Learning and school: an exam you failed, a course you dropped, a skill that took far longer to learn than you expected.
  • Health and sport: a race you did not finish, a goal you abandoned, a comeback that took more than one attempt.
  • Community and relationships: a volunteer project that struggled, a friendship you had to rebuild, a promise you could not keep.
  • Giving back: how helping others helped you recover from your own setback.

How to Submit to FanOfFailure

1. Write it down

Aim for 300 to 1,200 words. Tell us what you were trying to do, what went wrong, how it felt and what you would tell someone facing the same situation.

2. Send it to us

Email your story to [email protected] with the subject line “Story submission”. Paste it into the email or attach a document.

3. We read every one

Our volunteer editors read every submission. If we would like to publish yours, we will contact you to agree on any edits before anything goes live.

FanOfFailure Submission Guidelines

  • Write in your own words and only about your own experience.

  • You may publish under your name, your first name only, or anonymously – just tell us which you prefer.
  • Please do not include private information such as addresses, phone numbers or financial details.
  • We may lightly edit for length and clarity, and we will always check with you before publishing.
  • You keep the rights to your story. By submitting, you give FanOfFailure permission to publish it on this website.
